Here's to 7 years of Transcending Sound! 🥂
There’s a beauty in the number 7.
In this case, the number seven is important because it’s been how long Transcending Sound has been in existence and public for you all to see and (hopefully) benefit from. Seven years of music, advice, stories and interviews. It’s also been seven years of doubt, stress and confusion at times. But, through the ups and downs, it’s been beautiful. Seven is also known as a number of completion, and in this case, it’s a completion of me playing small. Today, June 1st (on the day that we celebrate 7 years since we’ve launched), marks the end of that.
Transcending Sound has been conceptualized, built, launched and sustained out of the love of supporting and promoting dope music from dope Black creatives. It’s helped me become more in tune with my goal of wanting to do this more as a career than a side project, even though balancing it all as a one-person team is a LOT. The clarity came during these past two years as I started to look inward at all the things that bring me joy. I haven’t had the opportunity to run the site in the way that I’ve wanted to (including the podcast!), but that’s about to end. There’s no more room for doubt and playing small here.
So, as the rest of June and the rest of the summer goes by, you’ll see some things pop up that you haven’t seen before from us and some things you haven’t seen in a while on the website and on social media. I hope you all enjoy what’s in store to come!
